T-Cushion Slipcovers
At GetSlipcovers.com we know that not all couches are the same. Whatever their age, they come in slightly different shapes and sizes. The slipcovers we feature on our website take this into account and have been designed to fit almost any two or three seat sofa or armchair.
However, there is a clear distinction between the different types of seat cushions, and it’s important to be aware of this so you buy a slipcover designed to fit your furniture properly.
Know your cushions
If you’ve never used a slipcover before, your only experience of sofa cushions is likely to be from the time you’ve spent sitting on them. You may not even have noticed that some are different shapes to others. Well, they are. And you need to check what type you’ve got on your furniture so you know what type of slipcover you need.
Box cushions vs T shaped cushions
You’ll need to look at the edges of your seat cushions, where they meet the arms of your sofa or chair. If the cushions have straight sides that sit flush with the arms – and form a square or rectangle shape when put together in a line – then they are known as box cushions. A regular slipcover should fit over these.
You will need a T-cushion slipcover, however, if your cushions form a sort of upside down “T” shape. This is the type you will need if your cushions have a bit that comes out in front of each arm, as in the pictures below.
Other important things you should know
You will notice the terms one, two or three piece used a lot in reference to slipcovers. The difference between these is really very simple, but it is useful to know so that you order the best style for your furniture.
The terms refer to how many separate sections of fabric are used. A one piece will cover the main body of the furniture (the back, sides, top, bottom) as well as the seat cushions. In contrast, a separate seat cover to put all your cushions in, is included as part of a two piece.
A three piece is the same as a two piece, except – you guessed it – it has a third cover designed to hold loose back cushions (if your furniture has these).

T-Cushion Slipcover Reviews
Fabric
The fabric actually looks like real suede and has a similar texture, but as well as being a faction of the price, it has the added bonus of containing 13% spandex. This means the slipcover will stretch and cling to your furniture and should give a snug fit. It’s surprisingly hardwearing, even with cats, and washes well.
Fit
Because it’s fairly lightweight and stretchy, the main body of the slipcover is quite simple to install. There’s a separate cover for the T-cushions, and this helps keep everything in place. You may need a hand to straighten it out, but once you’ve done it a few times, you should be able to refit it within a few minutes.
Look
The faux suede is good value for money and looks more expensive than it actually is. This slipcover can transform an ugly sofa and give it a sophisticated new image. People may even think you’ve bought new furniture! The separate seat design helps with the tailored appearance, as well as helping prevent the fabric slipping. The thing to look out for is that is you choose one of the lighter colors, dark patterned upholstery might show through.
Our Verdict
We think this slipcover is a bargain at under $150! The faux suede looks amazing and is robust enough to cope with pets. The separate cover for the cushions is a nice idea, and it almost looks like reupholstery.
Fabric
This slipcover is made from a ribbed fabric that has a similar feel to corduroy. While it is soft and cozy to sit on, it does have a tendency to attract lint and pet hairs, so may not be the best choice for dog or cat owners. However, it is machine washable and will keep its shape even after several washes.
Fit
This wing chair slipcover has a one piece construction, which means it is slightly more prone to working loose that one with a separate seat cover. However, the Spandex in the fabric helps it fit well and, once tucked, there should be no baggy areas. It is fairly lightweight, so it’s not difficult to put on. It is designed for T-cushion wing chairs and the dimensions are 42”H x 31”W x 33D.
Look
The fabric is good quality and although it’s not heavy, it’s not flimsy either. This makes it good for covering up upholstery with bold patterns or bright colors, and it’s a good solution for updating an old chair that’s been in the family for years! The ribbed material gives this slipcover a stylish, modern appeal.
Our Verdict
While not a sensible option for pet owners, nonetheless this slipcover is good value for money if you’re looking for an inexpensive way to prolong the life of a wing chair. We like the ribbed texture and the cozy feel. The one piece construction means that you may need to adjust it after use as it may gradually work loose, but this in a minor issue outweighed by the benefits.
